Hand woven Mochila's (bag) are made by women from various indigenous tribes across Colombia. The different styles of bags are representative of the diverse regions of the country, and the mosaic of indigenous tribes that reside in Colombia. The Mochila is a handmade item that embodies the South American spirit, while serving a practical purpose. The bags are made with natural and strong colourful fabrics.

In the main picture the second bag from the right is made by the Wayuu tribe and it is made of pure elo (cotton) fabric. The Wayuu of the Guajira region are known to use vibrant colours and intricate designs. This particular Mochila is for both men and women (Unisex).

The third bag from the right is handcrafted using pure figue (sisal) fibre; the Kogi tribe are known for handcrafting beautiful bags with this rich and colourful fabric.

The first Fuchsia bag from the right is a classic Mochila to which we added a modern touch – the fuchsia ribbon that runs all around the bag.
The fourth bag has a tribal pattern and has been given a modern touch as well.

The Mochila's are carefully hand woven with natural elo (cotton). The only bag that is not made of cotton is the third bag from the right which is made of natural figue thread. The third and fourth bags are modern version s of the Mochila.

All bags are known for being strong and stretch to accommodate the objects being carried. Today they are used as mundane handbags, beach bags or shopping bags...but traditionally they were used as more of a ‘daypack’ for travel to carry items across long distance.

The Mochila's you receive may have colours or motifs that slightly vary from what you see in the pictures. No matter what rest assure they will either look identical to the bags in the picture or look even better!
