The Mochilla's measure approximately 30 cm in height and 32 cm in width (when lying flat on the ground). The Mochila's you receive may have colours or motifs that slightly vary from what you see in the picture. No matter what rest assure they will either look identical to the bags in the picture or look even better! Also bear in mind that you can not find such distinct and eco friendly products anywhere at this price. Remember the price includes 'door to door' delivery.

Hand woven Mochila's (bag) are made by women from various indigenous tribes across Colombia. The different styles of bags are representative of the diverse regions of the country, and the mosaic of indigenous tribes that reside in Colombia. The Mochila is a handmade item that embodies the South American spirit, while serving a practical purpose. The bags are made with natural and strong colourful fabrics.

All bags are strong and stretch to accommodate the objects being carried. Today they are used as mundane handbags, beach bags or shopping bags...but traditionally they were used as more of a ‘daypack’ for travel to carry items across long distance.

These bracelets are handmade by the Arhuacos tribe as well. Strips of Caña Flecha, a durable palm, are braided together. Caña Flecha has been used by their tribal ancestors for centuries. They can be used as bracelets, armlets or bangles. The bracelets will come in different colours.

Both Instruments are used in Vallenato music. Singers like Jorge Celedon and Jose Vives make extensive use of these instruments. Search one of the names above on Youtube.com and enjoy the Vallenato music. The Guacharaca provides a steady rhythmic backbone for all varieties of Vallenato.

About the Maracas:
Maracas, sometimes called rumba shakers, are a native instrument of the Americas. They are simple percussion instruments, usually played in pairs. Maracas are heard in many forms of Latin music and are also used in pop and classical music. They are considered characteristic of the music of Cuba, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Jamaica and Brazil. Maracas are often played at celebrations and special events. Maracas are also very popular with children; they always love the sound and playing with them.

About the Guacharaca:
The Guacharaca is a musical percussion instrument made out of the cane-like trunk of a small palm tree. The guacharaca itself consists of a tube with ridges carved into its outer surface with part of its interior hollowed out, giving it the appearance of a tiny, notched canoe. It is played with a fork (see pictures) composed of hard wire fixed into a wooden handle. The 'guacharaquero' (guacharaca player) scrapes the fork along the instrument's surface to create its characteristic scratching sound. The guacharaca was invented by native American Indians from the Tairona culture in the region of la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia, as an instrument to simulate the guacharaca (or Ortalis ruficauda) bird's singing. During the mid 20th century it was adopted by Vallenato musicians and today it is most often associated with this musical style.
