In collaboration with our Colombian craftswomen we designed these sexy Accessory Sets using Tagua nut seeds (vegetable Ivory), recycled Madera (Colombian Tropical Wood), Iraca fiber (natural palm fibre). This set is made of real Tagua in various (large and small) shapes and colours. Fantastic Madera in the shape of large balls can be found around the belt as well. The threads of the Belt, Bracelet and Necklace can be twisted or kept untwisted.

ABOUT TAGUA: Tagua is a fruit of an ivory-nut palm (female) Tree (known as the Phytelephas Macrocarpa) which flourishes in tropical America. They are also known as 'vegetable ivory'; the seeds are very similar in structure to elephant ivory.
The Tagua 'woody like' seeds used in the accessories you will receive come in various stunning shapes, vibrant colours, are very strong (solid) and lightweigt.

Tagua is a natural rain forest product. Therefore the purchase of products made of Tagua is an ecological incentive for preserving the rain forests.

For a long time in the past artisans made extensive use of Tagua (to produce cane handles, buttons, chess pieces pipes and more) but with time its use got substituted by cheap plastic and synthetic materials. Today the use of Tagua is making a come back because it is a beautiful, flexible, natural and eco friendly material.

Did you know?: What do African elephants and the South American rain forest have in common? They are both being eliminated from the face of the earth at an alarming rate. The purchase of products made of Tagua helps preserve the environment, stimulates the economies in South America provides an alternative to cutting down rainforest for farming, provides work to thousands of people (in our case precisely families in Cartagena, Colombia) in these poor South American countries, giving them and their families a better life and prevents elephants from being killed for their tusks. ABOUT IRACA FIBER: Iraca (also known as toquilla) is a filament split from the leaves of the Carludovika palmate, which is similar to a palm tree but without a trunk. The tree flourishes in tropical America as well.
